Jonathan Records 1.48 million Votes in Rivers State While APC Had 69,238 - Punch

President Goodluck Jonathan of the Peoples Democratic Party has won last Saturday’s presidential election in Rivers State with a total vote of 1,487,075.
Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari(retd.) of the All Progressives Congress followed suit with 69,238 votes while KOWA party came a distant third with 2,274 votes.

US, UK Govt Release Joint Statement. Say There Are Signs of Political Interference in Collation of Results

The tension in the country is super high as Nigerians wait for the results of Saturday March 28th’s presidential elections. Fights are breaking out on social media between supporters of the main parties over alleged results and the nation is waiting with bated breath.
However the APC presidential candidate General Muhammadu Buhari seems to be very calm in the face of all the tension, extended election dates and accusations of rigging on both sides. He was spotted with his aides over the weekend at his home in Daura, Katsina State, reading online comments about the elections, perusing the photo album of his campaign events.

History Beckons As Buhari Sets To Unseat Jonathan - Leadership

Barring any attempt to scuttle the will of the people, the stage seems set for a change of leadership in the nation’s polity with results of the weekend’s presidential polls indicating that the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Gen Muhammadu Buhari (retd), is in comfortable lead in three of the country’s six geo-political zones.
The zones include the two largest ones – North West and South West. Buhari also polled more votes than his arch-rival and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), President Goodluck Jonathan, in North East zone.

Early results in Lagos State indicate that the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, is winning Lagos by a wide margin.
Results collated in different polling units revealed that Buhari defeated Jonathan in the ward of Senator Musiliu Obanikoro and the PDP governorship candidate, Jimi Agbaje. In Obanikoro’s ward, polling unit 013, Gerald, Ikoyi, Buhari scored 62 to defeat Jonathan, who polled 38.
In Agbaje’s ward in Apapa, Buhari polled 127 votes to beat Jonathan, who scored 60 votes.
At polling unit CPU 032 in Ifako Ijaiye, Buhari won by scoring 83 as against Jonathan’s 77 votes.


An Air Canada jet attempting to land at the Halifax international airport this morning touched down about 1,100 feet before the runway, damaging the landing gear, ripping off the nose cone, mangling one wing and engine and ripping off the other before it skidded to a stop, officials said.

Twenty-five people on board the Air Canada A320 were injured in the hard landing after the jet hit an array antenna on the ground. Considering the considerable damage to the plane, it was fortunate that no one was seriously hurt, officials said.

Woman stabs husband to death over PDP, APC presidential candidates


Lagos State Police Command has arrested a 26-year-old pregnant woman who allegedly stabbed her husband to death during a quarrel over who would emerge winner between the Peoples Democratic Party and All Progressives Congress, APC presidential candidates, while voting was on-going , weekend, at Ejigbo area of the state.

The incident, which threw the densely populated area into disarray, occurred at about 12noon inside the couple’s one room apartment at 81 Military zone junction. 

There were different accounts on how tragedy struck. A version of the account said the couple had divergent views on 
their choice of presidential candidates. While the husband was said to have decided to vote for the PDP, his wife, simply called Onyiyechi, reportedly chose to vote for the presidential candidate of the APC.

Buhari Shocks Goodluck Jonathan In Kebbi State

The All Progressive Congress (APC) appeared to be in an early lead in most of the results from polling units across Kebbi the State.
Results of 54 polling units read out by Presiding Officers of the PUs across the state showed APC leading with a clear margin in Presidential,Senatorial and House of Representative elections.
In the Presidential polls in Awala Pampo in Ribah , Danko/Wasagu Local Government, APC polled 112, PDP 13.For the Senate APC got 108, PDP 23. In the House of Representative APC got 109 and PDP polled 16.

Ibadan-Based Socialite, Philanthropist & Businessman, Mufutau Ajadi Olanihun, Who Died at 69, Buried

Alhaji Mufutau Ajadi Lanihun, an Ibadan-based businessman and philanthropist, is dead and has been buried same day according to Muslim rites. His remains was interred at his family house, Oriolowo Family House, Opopo Yemoja, Isale Osi, Ibadan Oyo State.
Popularly known as “Olowo ti nfowo sanu’’ due to his generosity, Lanihun died at the age of 69.

A senior member of the Lanihun family confirmed his death on Sunday evening in Ibadan.
Also confirming the death, Alhaji Ishaq Kunle Sanni, the Chairman of the Muslim Community of Oyo State, said that the late Lanihun would be greatly missed, particularly because of his kindness, generosity and philanthropic assistance to mankind and Muslims in particular.
Sanni recalled Lanihun’s contributions to the education sector, saying that he built schools and gave scholarships to many indigent students.

Dino Melaye of APC Beats Adeyemi Smart of PDP To Win Senatorial Seat in Kogi State

The senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, for Kogi West Senatorial District, Hon. Dino Melaye, has defeated the incumbent Senator Smart Adeyemi to represent the senatorial district at the upper chamber of the National Assembly.
According to sources, Adeyemi, a candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, came third in the race as the Accord Party, AP, candidate, Hon. Sam Aro, came second.
There has been popular clamour against the candidature of Smart Adeyemi in the elections, with many people accusing him of not adequately representing the senatorial district well.

Gov. Aliyu Of Niger State Loses Senate Election - Thisday

Niger state governor Dr.Muazu Babangida Aliyu has lost his bid to go to the Senate on the ticket of the PDP as he was defeated by Barrister David Umar of the APC.
Announcing the results, the Returning Officer for the district, Professor Ali Audu Jiigam, said Aliyu got 46,459  while Umar polled 149,443 votes. .
From the results, Aliyu was roundly defeated in all the wards of the five local government areas of the district officially declared by Independent Nationai Electoral Commission.
Jiigam said the APC candidate polled 49,519 votes in Chanchaga local government area, the council of the governor, who returned 17,209 votes in the area.

General Muhammadu Buhari seems to be gaining momentum as election results trickle in from across the country, as he adds the Federal Capital Territory to his victory in the Southwest and some states in the north.
All Progressives Congress (APC) polled 10,853 to Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 7,762 votes.
It would be recalled that Buhari beat President Goodluck Jonathan at the Presidential Villa polling units, winning by 613 votes to 595.

Osoba's SDP Lost To APC As Ogun People Elect, Kashamu, US wanted Fugitive as Senator

Voters in the Ogun east senatorial district, comprising nine local councils have elected Prince Buruji Kashamu, a man wanted in the United States in connection with drug offences, as their senator.
Kashamu was declared the winner today in Abeokuta and was said to have beaten the All Progressives Congress candidate, Prince Adedapo Abiodun. Kashamu’s victory was the most unlikely permutation in the state, facing up to Abiodun, an oil mogul, who ran a well-oiled campaign. Abiodun was expected to win the seat comfortably, but Kashamu defied the odds. He polled 99, 540 votes to defeat Abiodun, who had 84,001 votes.

Buhari Clears Oyo State, Wins in 19 LGs As APC Wins All The Senatorial Seats in The State

The presidential candidate of All Progressive Congress, (APC), General Muhammadu Buhari is leading in Oyo according to results of the local government released by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
With the results from Oyo, Buhari appears to have won all states in the Southwest save for Ekiti state where the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won.

Fani-Kayode Lied, PDP Not Leading in 23 States – Jega

Professor Attahiru Jega has stated that Femi Fani-Kayode lied about his claim that the Peoples Democratic Party is winning 23 states across the country in the presidential elections that began on 28 March.
At a news conference in Abuja at the International Conference Centre, Jega urged Nigerians to ignore reports pushed by people particularly those who are partisan. “You should be careful of the information people who are partisan are pushing out,” Jega said after he was asked if its true that Fani-Kayode’s claims that PDP is leading in 23 states is true.

Buhari Leading With Landslide In 10 LGAs of Borno

Collation of results of Saturday’s presidential election is underway at the state headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital.
Given the results so far announced by INEC, the candidate of the opposition All Progressives Congress, Muhammadu Buhari, is so leading in about 10 local government areas.
Final results from the 36 states and Abuja will be collated in Abuja where the winner of the election would be announced.
Residents of most of the local governments areas, which results have been announced, voted at the internally displaced people’s camps in Maiduguri.

Breaking News: INEC Office Set Ablaze In Rivers

The Independent National Electoral Commissions (INEC) in Emohua local government area has been set ablaze by unknown political thugs.

Vanguard gathered that the building located at Emohua, the Capital of the council which houses the electoral body was Sunday morning engulf in fire. 

The development may not be unconnected with the irregularities recorded in Saturday’s election in the state.

As at press time, none of the election results has been announced

APC Leading in INEC Released Presidential Results from 10 LGs in Ogun State.

The released results of the Presidential election in 10 local governments in Ogun State by INEC at 2:pm on Sunday March 29th in Abeokuta, APC won seven with wide margin while PDP won the remaining three local government areas.

The local government areas released so far include Obafemi-Owode, Abeokuta North, Odogboolu, Odeda, Imeko-Afon, Sagamu, Ijebu-Ode, Remo-North, Ewekoro, and Ijebu North-East. See details after the cut...

Man Collapses at Lagos Polling Unit

An old man, whose name was given as Mohammed Isiaka, collapsed during Saturday elections at a polling unit in the Abule Egba area of Lagos State.

Isiaka had gone through the accreditation process but collapsed shortly after collecting his ballot paper in readiness to cast his vote.

He was, however, resuscitated by a doctor also waiting to vote, alongside other voters at the unit.

Jonathan Loses Aso Rock Polling Unit to Buhari

President Goodluck Jonathan has lost one of the two polling units situated right inside the Presidential Villa to his All Progressives Congress challenger, Muhammadu Buhari.
Reports available to Premium Times indicate that in polling unit 022, Mr. Buhari garnered 348 votes to Mr. Jonathan’s 302.
At the second polling unit inside the villa, 021, Mr. Jonathan scored 293 votes while Mr. Buhari got 265.
Similarly in the Senatorial election, the APC scored 260 votes at PU 021 and 337 at PU 022  as against PDP’s 286 and 281 respectively.

The woman pictured above was caught moving thumb printed Electoral Materials in a yellow coloured bus this morning. The woman in the bus has been identified as APC woman leader Lagos East, Basirat Ojugbele in charge. The plate number of the apprehended bus is FKJ450XJ.

Baby Gorilla Delivered By Cesarean Section Remains In Critical Condition With pneumonia

A baby gorilla birthed during a rare Caesarian section last Wednesday at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park has undergone surgery for a collapsed lung.
The San Diego Zoo had several outside consultants help out during 18-year-old Imani’s emergency surgery, including specialists from UCSD Medical Center.

APC Members Shot Dead in Rivers State, Many Arrested [Viewers Discretion Advised]

Today’s presidential and National Assembly elections have turned out to be a big nightmare for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, with the members being killed, attacked and disenfranchised in various parts of the State.
  “Armed militias working for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have intensified their killing of APC members. Scores have already been killed and several others marked for elimination. This morning in Kpite Town, Tai Ward 2 and other areas of the State, five people were shot dead by PDP’s armed militia, and that was before accreditation commenced,” Rivers APC Chairman, Dr. Davies Ibiamu Ikanya, said in a statement in Port Harcourt. Armed Robbers Rape Seven Women During Deliverance vigil -

SEVEN ladies who went for night vigil for deliverance in a new generation church, located at 2nd Cemetery Road, Benin-City, were allegedly raped by armed bandits who stormed the church at about 4am on Thursday.
The robbers were said to have earlier raided a building near Ewuotubu community where they robbed some tenants living in four different flats in the compound. It was learnt that two persons, including a police officer, were shot dead while others sustained various degrees of injuries in the process.

Presidential Villa: APC Defeats PDP - Vanguard

The All Progressive Congress candidate for the House of Representatives has defeated the Peoples Democratic Candidate at the two polling units located within the precincts of the Presidential Villa.

In the polling Unit 021, the APC candidate polled 255 votes while the PDP candidate polled 254 votes.

In the second polling unit 022, the APC candidate got 334 votes while the PDP candidate came second with 241 votes.

The votes for the senatorial candidate is still being sorted at the time of filing this report.

APC Chairmanship Aspirant, Others Die In Boat Accident On Way To Vote

The Chairmanship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muiz Bello, has died after the boat conveying him to a polling unit to cast his vote capsized.

Bello, his wife and the director of the Lagos state Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Olakunle Adewale were in the boat that capsized, leaving Bello, Adewale and others dead.

Only Bello’s wife survived the mishap.

The bodies of Bello and others yet to be identified are yet to be found.

The Olu of Epeland, Oba Sefiu Adewale, who is Olakunle’s father, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

Olakunle has since been buried according to Islamic rites.

Muiz Bello was vying for the Chairmanship seat of the Epe Local Government until his death.

Mass Turn Out Of Voters For Election in Bauchi

In Bauchi , there was large turnout of voters at polling centres across in state and accreditation commenced as early as 8.00 a.m amidst tight security.
However in some of the polling centres, accreditation started as late as 10.30 am to 12 pm due to late arrival of INEC officials and materials at the polling stations.

Election: Card Reader, a Charade – Bode George

Former deputy national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Olabode George has described the use of the card reader for the Presidential and National Assembly elections as a charade.
Speaking with news men shortly after casting his vote at Evans square in Lagos Island, George said the decision by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, to experiment the elections with the use of the card reader has failed.

Jonathan Aide, Senator Escape Death in Kano - Vangurd

Kano -Two prominent PDP stalwarts, Baraka Sani and a sitting MP, Senator Basheer Lado escaped death by whisker at Jigiriya polling units when mob attack them during accreditation.
Baraka Sani is the Special Assistant to the President on Agric School, while Senator Basheer Lado is seeking re-election to the red chamber.
However Baraka Sani’s aide was also injured while senator Lado took to his heel and escaped with minor injury.

BREAKING: INEC Announces That Elections Will Continue Tomorrow In Areas Accreditation Has Been Slow

INEC just announced via its newly created Twitter account for alerts @INECAlert that elections will be postponed till tomorrow in some polling units. This affects areas where accreditation has been slow or impossible due to card reader errors.

Accreditation will be suspended in some polling units to the next day in accordance with the 2015 general elections guidelines where card readers fail to work and cannot be replaced.

Baby Abandoned By Dump Site In Lagos On Election Morning

The baby was abandoned this morning at a dump site in Lagos. The twitter user who informed us did however, not disclose the exact place but, tweeted about the heartless act. The baby was however rescued by good Samaritans.
