NURTW CLASH IN LAGOS: "Oluomo’s loyalists destroyed his property", Says Factional Leader

MC Oluomo
Members of  a faction of the  National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, yesterday described as untrue, claim by their National Treasurer, Musiliu Akinsanya, aka Oluomo, that loyalists of a factional leader destroyed his (Oluomo) property during last Saturday’s clash at the 10th anniversary of the coronation of Oba  Agbabiaka of Isolo.
Rather, they said that the destruction of Akinsanya’s residence in Ejigbo area of Lagos could have been masterminded by his loyalists to indict the accused, identified as Olufemi Olowu.
It would be recalled that fight broke out between factions of the union at the installation of two chiefs in Isolo area of Lagos, during which several persons were injured.

It was alleged that the chairman, Cele\Ejigbo park, Olowu, who attempted to shoot, was prevented but went ahead to stab one Kamoru in the cheek.
However, Olowu’s loyalists described the allegation as false, stating rather that their boss was almost lynched at the party.

According to one of them, who gave his name simply as Gbadamosi, “On that day, Olowu who was invited by the celebrants arrived the venue at about 6.30pm.
‘’While he was spraying money on one of the musicians, Semiu Alao, at about 8pm, there was commotion, as some thugs were shoving aside guests from the walkway for their boss (Oluomo) to have access.
“Some of the thugs were attacking guests by stealing their jewellery and other valuables. Before we knew it, they cut Olowu’s neck chain which costs N750,000 and dispossessed him of his two rings valued at N350,000 and his wristwatch which cost N35,000.
“When Olowu discovered that his neck chain had been stolen, he called the attention of Oluomo, saying his boys were responsible. Instead of calling his boys to order, he allowed them to descend on Olowu.
“One of the thugs hit him with the butt of a gun. Five of them were armed and were shooting indiscriminately. Nobody could go for Olowu’s help as everyone fled.
“Olowu was rushed to the Osolo of Isolo’s palace, where he was instructed to report at the police station. He went to the Isolo police division where the Divisional Police Officer, a woman, told him to go and treat himself first before coming to write a statement. That was how he was rushed to a hospital around Ejigbo.”
