Baby Found in Sydney Drain By Passing Cyclists [Photos+Video]

Cyclists found a newborn baby alive in a drain near a motorway in Sydney, Australia after stopping to rescue what they thought was a kitten

A newborn baby boy was rescued from the bottom of an eight-foot drainpipe in Australia after a group of passing cyclists heard wailing and thought the sounds were from a kitten.

The tiny baby, wrapped in a hospital blanket, had been dropped through a gap beneath the lid of a stormwater drain and was rescued by six men, including three police officers, who removed the 440 pound concrete covering.
David Otte, a cyclist who was riding on Sunday morning along a popular bike path in Sydney with his 18-year-old daughter, said they heard the baby crying.
"We actually thought it was a kitten at first, but when we went down there we could hear exactly what it was, you could definitely tell it was a baby screaming," Mr Otte told Sydney's Daily Telegraph.
"We're just thinking about the little fellow, he's a beautiful, beautiful baby."
