Tempers fled and emotions went an octave higher when family members of forward for Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur, Emmanuel Adebayor, stormed the studios of PEACE FM.
The family, numbering about seven (7), in a live-studio interview during PEACE POWER SPORTS, expressed their disappointment at and disapproval of the behavior of their son and brother, Emmanuel Adebayor.
This was after the Accra-based leading private radio station in Ghana, had spoken to both parties on phone earlier in the day (Thursday morning). Perhaps not satisfied with the few minutes offered them to state their case on-air via phone, Adebayor's family members trooped into the station's studios for the interview that lasted nearly an hour.
Adebayor's sister, Maggie, clearly the vocal one among the lot, accused the Togolese striker of driving their mother away from his house on the basis that she is a witch.
She also slammed him for neglecting the needs of other members of the family including his (Adebayor's) siblings. Maggie further claimed the Togolese star has persistently refused to answer phone calls from family members for over a year now.
But Sheyi, as the former Manchester City and Arsenal star is affectionately called, debunked all the allegations levelled against him in an interview on the same platform.
Whiles admitting that he has fallen out with his family, he told host of the show, Dan Kweku Yeboah that it was because they used "juju", (witchcraft) to destroy his career.
"They should stop talking, they should stop doing Juju on me; they should leave me alone... Right now they don’t need money...The one talking there and calling herself my sister I bought a house in East Legon for $1.2m…can you imagine that sister went to rent the house without my knowledge?...If they claim I am not looking after my mother, we are seven and so why can’t the rest do it…they should go and work...i remit my mother every month,” he stated.
But to the family, this was clearly not enough, considering the "wealth Adebayor has amassed" asserted Maggie.
Among other demands, she strongly requested that their brother sets up "a big business" for them.
However, an obviously riled Sheyi, indicated that he has had enough of their tantrums and revealed rather shockingly that his family had already shared all his belongings even though he is still alive.
“They shared my houses, they shared my cars, they say if he dies this car is for you, this house is for you, can you imagine?”
