HOW NURTW CHIEFTAIN MC OLUOMO WAS DISGRACED IN ABUJA - FALLS OUT WITH TINUBU OVER ESI’S DEATH

Things may have taken a downward trend for once dreaded and influential chieftain of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, popularly known as MC Oluomo. According to reliable sources, MC Oluomo had it real bad during the last convention of the NURTW held in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

We gathered that in the course of the general elections of the national officers of the transport union, MC, as he is always wont to do at occasions like this wanted to impose some of the candidates of his preference on the delegates, but this time around, he had his cup full from those who knew his antecedents and were prepared to give him a show down.

No sooner than the election started did the rampaging NURTW members opposed to MC Oluomo’s antics pounced on the once powerful NURTW boss and the entire venue became a battle ground. In the melee, MC was said to have been beaten blue and black, with sachets of water thrown at and poured on him, just as his cloth was torn into shreds, leaving the once untouchable MC Oluomo, in a pitiable state and laughing stock of observers. However, that background to this present humiliation and molestation of the Oshodi gangster kingpin can be traced back to when MC Oluomo held sway during the former Governor Tinubu’s tenure for eight years of two terms.

Then it was un-challengable Oluomo all the way in the entire Oshodi axis and its environs, collecting tolls from all buses that plied all the roads and harassing everyone without any hoot and any attempt by anyone or force to resist the payment is disastrous. All of these were made possible because MC Oluomo and his boys enjoyed the full patronage of the Jagaban, who in turn got their support as thugs during electioneering campaigns.

But the story changed abruptly shortly before the last governorship election in the state, when another NURTW top shot of the Union in, Oshodi, Esi Oluwo, was allegedly brutally murdered by MC Oluomo’s boys. It happened that Esi, who equally commands a large followership of NURTW boys in that axis, was won over by Asiwaju Tinubu, with a N5million largesse, to add more to the support base of for the incumbent Governor Akinwunmi Ambode, given the mounting rise of PDP’s Jimi Agbaje’s guber ambition.

The arithmetic was that if Esi could join the APC train, it would be a smooth sailing for Ambode, but MC saw this as a threat to his stronghold and supremacy and could downsize his authority. Urban Life gathered that on the day Esi was dastardly murdered, exactly when Ambode’s campagn train was in procession, MC was alleged to have instructed his boys to eliminate Esi, and it so happened.

When Tinubu got wind of this, he was furious and from then on, he distanced himself from Musiliu Akinsanya and since then he has not found the favour of the godfather of Lagos politics, such that MC scampered into hiding to avoid any reprisal attack from Esi’s boys, who are majorly PDP guys. The recent mayhem in Oshodi and Mafoluku area is a perfect attestation of Oluomo’s lost relevance in the area, as all his boys were just nowhere to be found, just as the disgrace he suffered in Abuja. His bane is his recent ambition to wrestle power with the present Lagos chair of NURTW, Alhaji Tajudeen Agbede, who is presently enjoying the support of all and sundry. This may have ended MC Oluomo’s power in the area and his closeness to the authority that used to shield him. Too bad for the limping kingpin of yesterday, who has now gone into hiding to avoid being disgraced more.
