A lot has happened today regarding Mayowa’s case. Matter of fact we can call it one of the most controversial stories of the year!
A few hours ago Linda Ikeji Blog reported that the whole thing was a “scam” (I hate using that word in this situation when nothing has been confirmed) by her family to take money from kind hearted Nigerians as Mayowa had been told by the doctors at LUTH that she was beyond treatment as the cancer had already advanced to Stage 4.

According to LIB report says,
Mayowa is really sick. She truly has Ovarian cancer. She’s admitted at LUTH but she didn’t need money for surgery, because doctors had told Mayowa she was beyond treatment and no hospital in the world could treat her as she was extremely far gone. Mayowa had reached stage 4 and doctors, unfortunately, already told her family she won’t survive it and had advised them to take her home. Her family instead used her situation to raise money from Nigerians. The doctors in LUTH have also denied giving her family a medical report advising her to seek treatment abroad.
Toyin Aimakhu, who was one of those who spearheaded the fundraising, as you read this, is at LUTH right now with police officers. Some people also went to the family’s home and the place is locked up.

Since the news broke this afternoon it has been confirmed that actress Toyin Aimakhu who was the first Nollywood star to bring attention to the case, visited LUTH where Mayowa currently is hospitalized. Also on the scene this afternoon was Aramide Kashamu the founder of Lifestake Foundation, a non profit organization.

Kashamu posted a video taken at Luth and in it members of the police force can be seen swooping in on the hospital, Kashamu reported from the scene that Mayowa’s brothers have been arrested. Toyin Aimakhu today also spoke to YNaija telling them that Mayowa Ahmed’s medical report was FAKE and her siblings came up with the plan to raise money on Sunday July 24,
They tagged me, she sent a message to me… they said she’s my huge fan saying she had cancer and she needed help and wanted me to come… I showed the doctor the (medical) report and the doctor said ‘which report?’. They said it was a fake report. They just came up with the plan on Sunday. They now came to LUTH to appear as if they were in LUTH. When they saw me they said I did not help them to beg for money… that they don’t know anything.
Listen to her interview below,
In another video posted today Toyin Aimakhu can be seen crying hysterically and blaming herself for the alleged falsehood.

Kashamu also had this to say to Daddyfreeze.com in an email sent a couple of days ago on July 26 the same day Mayowa hit the N32 Million needed for her surgery in Atlanta. She wrote,
Dear Daddy Freeze,
I run a foundation that is 100% not for profit,so when Mayowa’s post went up people tagged me,I ignored until some people opened a group and dragged me in,I was still reluctant, but I obliged them,so I called ,got her addy and was in her home.
Now when I got to her house I was pissed at why is she home and not in the hospital, then the family said they wanted her to go abroad because they where no longer comfortable with Nigerian hospitals, now I thought so is staying home a better option? Now Mayowa is sickle cell, and a stage 4 cancer, what are her chances of living?
I called the CMD LUTH to organize a bed space in the private unit as they were on strike ,the next day I drove to hers and took her to LUTH.
Now at LUTH the first thing that was brought to my attention when I told them that her stay at LUTH was temporary till she travelled abroad ,the doctor said and I quote “No airline would carry her”
And then all the questions came in ,If no airline would carry her what is the funds raised for?is the $100k not for the trip to Atlanta?
Does she have a visa yet?
Has the hospital sent an invitation yet?
What airline would carry her?
Stage 4 malignant ,chances of survival?
I went through the letter from the hospital it says $100k initial deposit,$3k-30k and 10-50treatments.so if really she planned to travel she needs way over 30million…
I would not lie Mayowa was extremely sweet and I felt sorry for her,she would call me to say thank you,and say “Aramide please don’t forget me here”
I have worked with Kate Henshaw credibility is her watch word and would follow every detail of it,i can guarantee that Kate won’t have posted pics had she gone to the hospital .
So why exactly was money raised from the public?
Now since Mayowa isn’t here,if the funds where for health, can the family use the money for another patient since the money technically belongs to the public?Did they know it would eventually lead to this and use her case as a reason to get money off the public?
Aramide Kasumu.
In all this the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Fatai Owoseni has allegedly blocked the account where the N85M raised is domiciled, this according to Aramide Kasumu.

Mayowa’s family also insists that they did not scam anyone in a statement they have just released where they now say Mayowa is being prepared to be flown to Abu Dhabi (not Atlanta as earlier stated) for treatment. It reads,
We have been called by friends, family and everyone who has our contacts that our raising funds for Mayo is a scam. We were also informed that some persons had made statements concerning her state and her ability to pull through this ordeal.
As a family we wish to make these affirmative statements:
• Mayowa is presently in LUTH receiving treatments that will prepare her for 7hr trip to Abu Dhabi. We have also engaged the services of the Flying Doctors to accompany her on the trip based on recommendation by the Doctors in LUTH (Form attached)
• Mayowa is receiving treatment in LUTH to allow her be able to travel as advised by the Doctors in LUTH and she has been transfused to help improve her PCV
• The funds are solely for Mayowa’ s treatment and for no other reason.
• We await her Visa for travel documents to commence the journey as we are in touch with the doctors abroad and they are awaiting her arrival.
We appreciate the contributions made by Nigerians on this journey. Mayowa will live to tell this story and you shall be one of the audiences by His grace.
Please support us with prayers as you will surely be told the success story as we have not given up on Mayowa living her life and we will never give up until the work God has started is finished.
Thank you once again and will provide updates on her treatment and procedures.
Signed
The Ahmed Family

I refuse to believe Mayowa and her family scammed Nigerians. I believe her condition is TERMINAL. And her family desperate to save their loved one were seeking an alternative treatment. When you have a life threatening medical condition you and your family will do ANYTHING to fight for your life. I don’t think Mayowa or her family is any different.
