Arrest Suspect Accused of Executing Police Detective In Front Of Police Headquarters

Otis Tyrone McCain

Police have arrested a suspect who killed Detective Benjamin Marconi in front of police headquarters in San Antonio, Texas Sunday morning.
31-year-old Otis Tyrone McCain was taken into custody without incident after his car was stopped on I-10 around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
“We believe he is responsible for the cold and calculated murder,” San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said Monday evening.
Marconi was shot in the head as he sat in his marked unit writing out a ticket for a traffic stop.

Police say the suspect parked behind the cruiser, then approached from the driver’s side window and shot Marconi twice before fleeing in a black car.
Authorities do not believe McCain and the other motorist were related.
Local, state and federal agencies joined in the 30-hour manhunt for the killer.
Police say McCain walked into the police headquarters at 8 a.m. Sunday morning. He spoke briefly to the clerk then left.
He returned 4 hours later and shot Marconi just outside the police station.
A $15,000 reward was offered for information leading to McCain’s capture.
